Known for his obsession with the battle of the sexes, movie director Wong Jing, whose decade-long career includes the Boys Chase Girls series, is now looking to stamp his name on the Hong Kong pop culture scene with his latest film, Sex and the Beauties.
Some have already sullied its name by calling it a Canto-pop rip off of HBO's Sex and the City. Edgy babes Carina Lau Ka-ling, Cecilia Cheung Pak-chee, Athena Chu, Pinky Cheung Man-chi, and Yoyo Mung Ka-wai embark on a sexual adventure with Hong Kong as the backdrop. Singers/actors Edison Chen Koon-hei and Andy Hui Chi-on are cast as the objects of their desire.
Wong has denied any connection with the American comedy series. 'No, the two are very different. Even though it deals with sex, it's really the females' perspective that I want to stress. The dialogues are explicit; they talk about orgasms.'
Hmm. Sounds familiar. We'll have to wait and see. The movie is in production and no release date has yet been set.
