Gimme shelter

Tinnie Chow

Does your little flat feel a little too exposed to typhoons, floods, earthquakes or terrorist attacks? You may want to consider The Guardian. This aerodynamic monolith bunker, a 30cm-thick shell of reinforced concrete, fibreglass and steel, weighs in at just 14 tonnes. And delivery is easy.

The Guardian - which CitySeen learned about in a spam e-mail as Typhoon Dujuan approached - can be conveniently delivered right to your door via 'the CH-47 Chinook helicopter and air-dropped to you with an accuracy of plus or minus 100 feet'.It's a bit pricey - the company wants a face-to-face before disclosing its real cost.

According to the company's website, all you need to unload it is a 40 to 50-tonne standard crane and you are set - safe and sound from any typhoon. For details check out www.usbunkers.com
