THORNTON Group will restructure its operations in Hong Kong and London in a bid to make it one of the leading investment firms in both Asia and Europe, says chairman Lord Walker.
In Hong Kong, Christopher Day and Bruce Kho will head the local office. Mr Day will be responsible for investment and marketing policies while Mr Kho will handle budgeting, administration, systems and finance.
In the London office Mark Lynam will take care of investment and marketing and David Pinckney will look after budgeting, administration, system and group finance.
Lord Walker said Thornton's strong results this year had been boosted by the growing reputation of its Asian single country funds and he was confident the new management team would help this performance continue.
The best-performing are the New Tiger Singapore and New Tiger Malaysia funds, which generated returns of 97.93 per cent and 87.19 per cent respectively in the past year.
Thornton also manages single-country Asian funds covering the Philippines, Indonesia, China and Thailand.
