DERBY-winning rider Eric Legrix yesterday flew into Hong Kong to take up his position as Patrick Biancone's stable jockey.

He immediately sailed through his medical in readiness for this morning's extended barrier trial session at Sha Tin.

Legrix is 28 on Sunday and laughed: ''My birthday present to myself is to come and ride in Hong Kong.

''It has always been an ambition of mine to ride here full-time and it is even better that I'm doing it for Patrick.

''We have known each other a long time and I've no doubts that we will work well together.

''Of course I would love to end up champion jockey here but first I have to get on the horses and see how they are progressing.'' Legrix, who won three Group races in France this summer, scored an immediate hit during a month's stint in the territory last season when taking the Derby on Biancone's last-minute runner, Helene Star.
