Satisfied with hygiene, the store will reopen most of its counters
Supermarket chain ParknShop will open all but one of its live fish counters this week despite being unable to trace the source of the cholera bacteria found at its Chi Fu Fa Yuen outlet last week.
The store has also insisted that it is not looking to blame anyone for the problems which have crippled its fresh fish sales.
Peter Johnston, the chain's quality assurance manager, said tests on water from fish tanks in all its branches and at its fresh fish centre in Aberdeen had satisfied the company that the source of the cholera scare was not any of its premises.
While assuring consumers that live fish in ParknShop supermarkets would be safe because the company had 'implemented all necessary precautions'', he could not pin down where the cholera had entered the system.
The live fish counter at Chi Fu Fa Yuen in Pokfulam would remain closed until the health authorities completed their investigation.
A spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said the department was aware that ParknShop would reopen its fish counters next week.
