Organisers of Whirlwind Date - in which couples enjoy three-minute dates - boast that the two sessions they organised at C Club were a huge success, with a match rate of more than 95 per cent. 'There were only two people without matches - besides you, only one other local guy,' says organiser Brad McKeown, adding that there is no dating formula. 'During the first session, we had a couple leave right after the event together. I am sure they got it on. And another couple, an Australian guy and a Chinese girl, are heading to Hawaii for a holiday together!' There are plans to expand the menu to include speed dates for Indians and gay men (on separate occasions). Post 97 has also held a hugely successful speed-dating session. Rumour has it that one couple were busted making out in the bathroom and another refused to part after their three minutes were up and had to be dragged away from each other. Post 97 promises a repeat performance. But despite all the fun and games, people take dating very seriously. One organiser reveals: 'We have been getting phone calls and emails from people who are in shock about not making a match. It seems to have really affected them emotionally.' The next Whirlwind Date is on September 17 at The Edge.
