After weeks of speculation in the media, Canto-pop diva Anita Mui Yim-fong has confirmed that she has cancer.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, the 40-year-old urged the press not to make up anymore stories and fuel further rumours about her illness.
'I am telling you very calmly that I have cancer ... cervical cancer. It has not reached the final stage so I am not going to die yet. I have confidence that I will win the battle,' she said.
Standing by her side at the announcement were friends and fellow stars, including Michelle Yeoh Choo Kheng, Nicholas Tse Ting-fung, Jackie Chan, Tony Leung Kar-fai, Andy Lau Tak-wah, Sammi Cheng Sau-man, Jacky Cheung Hok-yau, Denise Ho Wing-sze, Andy Hui Chi-on and the Grasshopper.
The award-winning actress - who lost her sister to ovarian cancer three years ago - said she would continue to work and prepare for her concert tour towards the end of this year.
'I am not a weakling, I am just ill,' she said.
