CALL IT creative promotion. Benetton's bash for the opening of its Nathan Road megastore spotlighted the work of its communications research centre, Fabrica. Guests were treated to an interactive multi-media workshop by local filmmaker Stanley Wong and Fabrica artist Jean Sebastien Lallemand, who were recruited to raise the profile of Benetton's 'centre for applied creativity' in Hong Kong.

Local art promoter Michelle Gladwin of Kaleidescope Kreations and Mary Yan Yan Chan of trend monitor Peclers caught the creative vibes while one-woman band Pancakes tossed back a few refreshments. Architect Kent Lui of Tactics mingled with DJ Wong Chi-chung and Bobo Lee of the Hong Kong Arts Centre while Peter Wong, editor of City Magazine, stood up to entertain the crowd with a chalk drawing of himself, pointing out where he shopped for clothes. The close-knit gathering ended with everyone lining themselves up as the next new face of Benetton.
