New business district emerging as good infrastructure and demand increase
Pyrmont peninsula, directly west of Sydney's central business district (CBD), is emerging as a new commercial hub, with demand for office space expected to surge in the wake of improved infrastructure development.
Property consultants said the increased presence of enthusiastic developers would boost the growth of the new business district.
Pyrmont peninsula, which includes Pyrmont and Ultimo, contains about 280,000 square metres of commercial office space, according to Australia-based Laing+Simmons Commercial.
A number of significant office projects were expected to get under way in the next few years, the property consultant said.
Property groups Chartered Hall, Mirvac, St Hilliers and Babcock & Brown each have two or more developments planned for the area, indicating robust demand for office space on the fringes of the Sydney CBD.
