Turn left, turn a profit

Johnnie To and Wai Ka-fai's film adaption of Jimmy Liao's illustrated novel Turn Left, Turn Right has taken in $7.3 million since opening in Hong Kong last Thursday - the biggest opening week for a local production distributed by a US major - in this case, Warner Brothers.

Currently number one at the local box office, the film stars Gigi Leung and Takeshi Kaneshiro (right), in a story of love and fate. The film, produced by Warner Brothers in association with Milkyway Image and Singapore's Raintree Pictures, also did very well in Singapore and Malaysia.
