A group of renowned women business leaders will convene in Hong Kong later this year for a conference and local awards ceremony that organisers hope will inspire the city's female professionals.

The International Women's Forum and the American Chamber of Commerce are to co-host the first Women of Influence conference and awards, which they hope will become an annual event.

'It is very important that successful, highly motivated and inspirational women act as role models,' said Paula DeLisle, ex-officio governor of AmCham.

Among the women speaking at the conference will be US Under-Secretary of Economic Affairs Kathleen Cooper, IBM Japan vice-president Yukako Uchinaga and former Hong Kong chief secretary Anson Chan Fang On-sang.

Local business executives, including Betty Yuen of CLP Power, Caroline Mak of Mannings and Betty Choi of Hong Kong Disneyland Management, will act as panelists.
