Sex may be only twice a week and unadventurous, but HK is happy

Hongkongers have sex infrequently and are among the least sexually adventurous, yet most of them are happy with their love lives, condom-maker Durex's annual world sex survey shows.

The average Hongkonger has sex 103 times a year, fourth from the bottom but still higher than Sweden (102), Malaysia (100) and Singapore (96). All the other 30 countries surveyed rated higher than Hong Kong, and the global average was 127.

Respondents on the mainland reported having sex an average of 132 times a year. Five in six of them said they were happy with their sex lives, much higher than the global average of 73 per cent. Hongkongers, too, are more content than average - three in four said they were happy with their sex lives.

More than 150,000 people - 2,000 from Hong Kong - participated in the internet survey. Durex found people in Eastern Europe to be the most sexually active. Hungarians, Bulgarians and Russians all topped the 150 times a year mark.

Hongkongers emerged as among the world's most sexually conservative. Asked if they had ever had a one-night stand, only 20 per cent of Hong Kong respondents said yes. The average worldwide was 45 per cent.
