When it comes to loony stories, this one from The Sun on Monday really takes the cake: 'Cat parasite drives women wild and men insane.'
According to the newspaper, a new study has found that a bug called Toxoplasma gondii can cause abnormal behavioural changes in humans if passed from pets to their owners.
'Men will become ill-tempered and anti-social; women will become promiscuous 'sex kittens' obsessed with their appearances,' the newspaper said.
The research, jointly carried out by British, Czech and American scientists, also warned that the parasite could cause madness and depression.
I haven't been able to find the original research paper, so I can't tell you if it's a case of weird science or tabloid journalism.
The newspaper also ran an accompanying editorial admonishing the Housing Department for allowing pet-owning residents on public housing estates to keep their animals.
