Cool Cole I love Cole Haan shoes, but I cannot find them in Hong Kong. Can you help? Simple Sole, Tai Po The Dictator rules: Oh no, I was imagining hideous basket-weave loafers in orange/brown when I set out on this search. Thankfully, the hidden-away shops had none of those early Nineties fashion faux pas on display. Instead, the styles were simple and bland enough to rival Coach. The leather shoes come in neutral colours with a few red models that cost from about $1,300 for a suede driving shoe to $2,900 for leather boots. There are some unfortunate attempts to capture a younger market with sneaker-inspired designs, but we will choose to overlook those. In addition to women's shoes, they have bags and, for men, shoes, socks, belts, briefcases and watches. On Hong Kong island, visit Sogo (old wing, 555 Hennessy Road; tel: 2831 8436). In Kowloon, go to the Cole Haan shop at Festival Walk, Kowloon Tong (tel: 2265 8386). Love, set, match I'd like a tennis bracelet but can't afford the real thing. Where can I buy a fake one? Lacklustre, Mid-Levels The Dictator: Well at least you're not marrying some old, rich shmuck to get your hands on some ice. Let's be clear: you would like a bracelet made of a single row of equal-sized diamonds, right? Believe it or not, the best we found were at Furla (G304 Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2117 0898). There, they come with alternating round- and square-cut stones in clear, diamond-like or beige crystal ($890). Furla will also adjust your bracelet for size (for an extra $50). You can have one made at Jasper (Shop 115, Pacific Place, Admiralty, tel: 2522 1595), where small crystal stones in various colours are set in either 14-carat gold or silver ($72 to $216 for a 15cm bracelet). Go for the discount set at Italiana (G/F, Wing On Department Store, 211 Des Voeux Road Central, Sheung Wan, tel: 2852 1888), or buy a more elaborate tennis bracelet in crystal and silver plate with matching stud earrings and a small pendant on a silver chain ($498). All stones are made to look like genuine diamonds. Or try on a few crystal versions at Tmen Jewellery ($285 to $385; 39 Jordan Road, Kowloon, tel: 2771 7676). Second look Parfait, my favourite shop for cheap, pretty dresses is gone! Can you tell me where it has moved to or if it is still open? Church Mouse, Central The Dictator: Even more striking than your lack of taste is your lack of observation skills. Parfait is still in half of the previous space but has a different entrance next to the main shop (basement, Man Hing Building, 79A Queen's Road Central, tel: 2525 9078). I will admit they did have a short run of fun, throwaway dresses but I hope you will not try to wear what they are flogging these days. You can also find Parfait at 178 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui (tel: 2992 0816) and in the Tai Yau Arcade, 181 Johnston Road, Wan Chai (tel: 2591 4593).
