Watchmaker Ebel hosted a Hong Kong rendition of Cinderella when it celebrated the launch of its Midnight Collection of diamond timepieces alongside Barney Cheng's haute couture line at the Aberdeen Marina Club. The mix was 'a perfect synthesis of style and taste; this collection inspires me to dream, create, and challenge myself to new levels of couture sophistication', said Cheng. Ebel's stunning 'ambassador' and the evening's 'Cinderella', Maggie Cheung Man-yuk, stole the precious collectibles' limelight, however, as cameras flashed around her in a room buzzing with rumours that her current beau is none other than the watch manufacturer's chief executive, Guillaume Brochard. The 'Prince Charming' never made an appearance, leaving our 'Cinderella' empty handed, however, and when the ball ended at midnight, a chauffeur-driven Mercedes-Benz waited for her outside. But instead of a glass slipper, Cheung got away with a limited-edition Ebel watch.
