Despite the controversy surrounding the very popular Atkins diet, people in Hong Kong have been giving it a go. CitySeen knows three men who say they've each lost more than 9kg on the diet. One of them, Steve Bruce, says: 'None of my clothes fit me now, and you get a whole burst of energy while doing it. I've lost 20 pounds so far after three months. The diet is practical, you get to eat food in most food groups except carbohydrates. You can eat cheese and butter, and as much meat and seafood as you want. The only alcohol you can't drink is beer.' Capitalising on this niche market are Cameron Honarvar and Sian Trodd who have opened a health food store, appropriately called Healthy, in the Centrium. It has Hong Kong's largest selection of Atkins-branded low-carb food. They also carry wheat and gluten-free flour and pastas, and natural personal-care products.
