DAVID Tonroe virtually guaranteed himself a spot in Hong Kong's Putra Cup team with a fine finish in the Singapore Open amateur championship yesterday, writes Spencer Robinson. Tonroe returned a final round of even-par 72 to finish 12th with a four-round aggregate of 294, 18 shots behind winner Amit Luthra of India. Tonroe's performance should ensure him a place in the territory's four-man team for November's Southeast Asian amateur team championships for the Putra Cup at Fanling.
