A waitress suffered burns to 70 per cent of her body when two masked attackers hurled acid at her as she finished work at Tsim Sha Tsui's Crystal Jade Restaurant yesterday.
A manager of the restaurant and its head waiter have been arrested, but no charges have been laid against them.
The woman, surnamed Siu, managed to pull the masks off her attackers. The men then dropped the containers of acid and fled.
The 45-year-old waitress was conscious when she was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where she was in critical condition last night.
She identified her two attackers to police and said she believed the attack was linked to a workplace dispute.
Officers of the Kowloon West regional crime unit later arrested the manager, 52, at a flat in Connaught Garden on Connaught Road West, Western District.
The head waiter, 43, was arrested at Tuen Mun Hospital where he reportedly went to seek treatment for burns.
