Quality control inspector Tse Kwok-man, 46, of the Kowloon Motor Bus' maintenance section, was pinned between the front of his bus and the back of a parked bus for about 10 minutes before being found by a security guard.

Police said Tse had apparently failed to properly engage the handbrake of the bus he had been driving. They believe he got out of the bus while its engine was still running and it rolled forward when he walked in front of it.

Tse had lost consciousness and was suffering serious injuries to his head and chest when he was freed by firemen shortly before 6am. He was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital where he was declared dead.

'The handbrake lever had not been completely pulled up and the area where his bus stopped is mildly steep so it skidded forward a short distance and pinned the victim against a double-decker,' a police investigator from New Territories South traffic unit said.

Tse drove into the bus depot in Pat Tsz Wo Street from another bus depot in Siu Lek Yuen, Sha Tin, and stopped his single-deck bus near a fleet of parked double-deckers before the accident happened .
