Activist Leung Kwok-hung is considering challenging pro-government heavyweight Choy So-yuk in the District Council elections. Leung, known as Long Hair, said yesterday he would run against the Democratic Alliance for Betterment of Hong Kong lawmaker in the contest for Eastern District if no pro-democracy candidate emerged. But his campaign could be jeopardised by charges of disrupting the Legislative Council proceedings in February. Leung will make his final submission on the case in Western Court on Wednesday. Under electoral laws, he would be barred from contesting the poll if he is convicted with a jail term of three months or more. Leung was narrowly defeated in the Legislative Council elections in New Territories East in 2000.
