One of Britain's top names in telecommunications is a Hong Kong-based company few people have ever heard of.
However, this is about to change following Binatone Telecom's recent launch of two innovative cordless phones retailing at prices that should put them within reach of the mass market.
The E3300, Britain's No1 selling cordless phone, and the E4400, a higher end model, have been available at PCCW retail outlets since last month.
Both models have an expandable handset capability of up to six units and need only one base station and telephone outlet.
The E3300, a twin set with a base station, a charger and another handset, retails for $648. The E4400 retails for $488. Additional handsets, which can be purchased separately, will be on the market for both models soon.
'It's our first major product launch in Hong Kong,' Dino Lalvani, group sales and marketing director, Binatone Telecom, says. 'But in Britain, the brand is a household name.'
