Cooler weather is predicted to hit Hong Kong today with temperatures falling nearly 10 degrees Celsius in the next few days.
The Hong Kong Observatory said a cold front over central China was moving south, and a northeast monsoon would bring cooler weather.
The weather is expected to be mainly fine today, with scattered showers and moderate southerly winds. The maximum temperature will be 28 degrees and gradually fall to 23 degrees later tonight.
Tai Sai-choi, acting senior science officer at the Observatory, said: 'The weather will be cloudy with rain once the cold front arrives. The wind will freshen from the north with the morning temperatures declining to 20 degrees on Wednesday.'
The Health Department yesterday reminded the public to take precautions against the weather.
Regina Ching, an assistant director of health, said the public should safeguard their health against the cool weather, which could trigger respiratory tract infections and influenza, especially among the young and the elderly suffering from heart and chronic diseases.
