The Sotheby's-Dior 'Magnificent Jewels' show should be a gem. The jewellery - to be auctioned in Geneva on November 20 and now touring the world - is from the collections of Baroness Eugene de Rothschild (an actress who married into Austrian nobility) and Donna Simonetta Colonna Duchessa di Cesaro (pictured). The latter, now 81, has been a regular on the New York Dress Institute's list of the world's 10 best-dressed women. Exiled from Italy in the 1920s and arrested by the fascists in 1941 and 1944, Donna Simonetta Colonna is selling baubles including her US$1 million Bulgari blue and white diamond earrings. The two-day exhibition is not open to the public, but if you are in the market for some additions to your jewellery case, contact Sotheby's on 2822 8115.
