Organisers of the 500,000-strong July 1 march will attempt to stage another large-scale protest on January 1, calling for democracy, social and economic improvements. Rose Wu, convenor of the Civil Human Rights Front l, said the coalition had decided to organise another march, with the theme of 'returning political power to people and improving livelihoods'. The front organised both the July 1 march and a July 9 rally outside the Legislative Council building. 'Hong Kong people still have a lot of dissatisfaction towards government policies and about the delay in carrying out constitutional reform,' Ms Wu said. 'We hope to tell the chief executive clearly about people's demands before he delivers his policy address,' she said. Meanwhile, a new coalition is to be formed to co-ordinate the district council election campaigns of pro-democracy candidates.
