Dennis Yip Chor-hong's highly consistent Shogun has picked up a cheque on all but two of his ten career starts and the dependable sort should keep the record intact and prove a sound banker option in the opening leg of the Triple Trio on Sunday. The step up to 1,200 metres is sure to benefit him, along with the move to Sha Tin where the longer straight will prove advantageous. He appeared to appreciate the patient tactics applied last time round and providing he can hold the form from that run is a major chance of notching his first win. A possible double banker in the event is Ambition, who looked decidedly unlucky last time when second to Salut Beaute over the course and distance. He is another that is on the upgrade and having performed well on both starts this term looks a lively chance, especially with the booking of Douglas Whyte. Flying Kenny displayed a good deal of potential as a griffin. He may have needed the outing on his seasonal reappearance and looks one to add to the shortlist. Eastkowloon Spirit is one to keep safe based on his most recent run when second to Able Eagle over the course and distance. Both Brave Commander and Winning Smile displayed some potential in their only starts this season and with further improvement expected they are hard to leave out. The best option for banker in the middle-pin is last-start winner Felicity, who steps up to the mile on the all-weather after scoring over the shorter trip earlier this term. He has been placed over the course and distance in the past and from a good alley should have every chance to figure in the finish again. Brave Knight has displayed ability on the surface in the past and his last effort when third over the Valley mile was good enough to warrant him being added to the shortlist this time. Czar Of Prussia will need some luck in running after drawing gate 10, but has a distinct liking for the dirt surface and can make the frame. Konrad The Great is a winner over the course and distance and is holding his form well enough this term to warrant inclusion. Of the remainder, Dongguan Excels is an unknown quantity on the surface but has proven highly competitive in this grade. Whyte has solid rides in all three legs including Cheerful Heart, who looks the safest option for banker in the final leg. His only run this season, for fourth, was an outstanding effort as he was caught wide throughout the 1,400-metre journey. There should be further improvement to come from that effort and he looks a major chance. There was a good deal to like about the effort of Smart Champion when third to Miracles on debut and he is another that looks capable of rising a good deal higher in the ratings. My Choice produced a powerful finishing burst to break his maiden status last time and based on that performance must rate a good chance to figure in the finish. Mystic Spirits impressed in his only outing this term and is another with place claims, while Scintillation is fitter now and looks a leading fancy. The logical banker option in the third event is Good Boy, who produced a sound effort when second to Fat Chance in his most recent outing over the dirt mile. He should appreciate the extra furlong this time. Olive Or Twist remains in excellent form having won both starts this season and, importantly, handles the surface. He must be considered. Step Forward is poorly drawn but has to be included while Platinum Express is a dirt specialist and should be kept safe.
