The Hong Kong Cancer Fund named October Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Celine launched The Year Of China In France at the label's Pacific Place boutique.
The double event's centrepiece was the French brand's highly coveted Boogie Bonheur bag, one of only eight made. Adorned with Fanfan Li's meticulous lotus design in a tribute to the Year Of China promotion of Chinese cultural events in France, the accessory was auctioned off for the fund. A fusion of Chinese and French food was offered to guests such as Alice Chiu Tsang Hok-wan, the founder of Sheen Hok Charitable Foundation and actress Pauline Yam.
They were joined by Yong Mee Yian of Starz People and Betty Da Silva while designer Kai-yin Lo mingled with Elaine Marden, Sabrina Fung and Bonnie Gokson. Then came the auction, which started off nicely until the final bidding, in which it was every socialite for herself. But the hammer came down for charity matriarch Julie Siu, for a cool $105,000.
