I refer to the letter headlined 'US immigration ordeal' (Sunday Morning Post, October 26). Wil Bordeaux complains about his wife not being permitted to enter the US. The fact - and the only fact that is pertinent in this case - is that Mr Bordeaux's wife was attempting to enter the US illegally. Of course, she is going to be refused entry, as would happen in any country. The fault rests solely and totally with the couple in question. They let their documents lapse and were not responsible in keeping their affairs in order. It matters not whether Mrs Bordeaux is well trained, or a hard worker, or a loving mother. The fact is she was attempting to enter a country illegally. The US has the most liberal immigration laws in the world. I do not think it is 'out of control' to demand that those wishing to enter the country have their documents in order. JEFF ANDREWS, Mid-Levels
