A delicious helping of culinary sophistication was served at the preview dinners for SPOON by Alain Ducasse at the InterContinental Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui. Only the creme de la creme of Hong Kong earned an invite and the Tony Chi-designed room was brimming over like the complimentary champagne. Among the many A-listers was Stanley Ho Hung-sun, who grazed on the signature 'Sexy Spoon' dinner with his very attentive fourth wife, Angela Leong, who made sure the air-conditioning was not overbearing. Among the more rarely seen faces were Contrasts Gallery's Pearl Lam, socialite Jacqueline Leung and her mum Sally. Garden Bakery scion Professor David Cheung and his wife Michelle Ong Cheung made an appearance, along with PCCW Infrastructure chairman Robert Lee Chi-hong and his wife Iwanbeo Lee Yuen-ching. You know the food must be top-notch if the president of LVMH, Hughes Witvoet, French Consul-General Serge Mostura, Judy and David Hong of Swank, and Cassam and Grace Gooljarry turn up to sample the fare. Of the more socially active were Stanley's daughters Pansy Ho Chiu-king and Daisy Ho Chiu-fung with her husband Simon Ho. Harriet Tung Wan Chi-wah, Leila Harilela and her daughter Tiziana also brightened up proceedings along with ATV's financial officer Charles Yang who, as usual, brought his mother Lucy along. Alain Ducasse - the evening's creator and the recipient of nine Michelin stars - was on hand to ensure everything measured up to his lofty standards on the night. Curiously, after dinner a long queue formed outside the kitchen window. It was a scene from a hotel buffet as fans had the celebrity chef autograph copies of his latest book, SPOON Food & Dine. And despite being in the middle of a kitchen debriefing, the in-demand Ducasse managed to scribble his moniker for everyone before farewelling the most important guest; the irrepressible Stanley Ho and his entourage had to move on to another event with definitely more pop than class - a Joey Yung concert.
