Leading mobile phone maker Nokia was on track to achieve 10 per cent growth in global sales volume, according to president Pekka Ala-Pietil?.
Speaking on the sidelines of the International Consultative Conference on the Future Economic Development of Guangdong Province, Mr Ala-Pietil? said the company had seen positive sales growth in most countries around the world.
In China, Nokia has secured its position as the top selling brand in the GSM mobile handset segment. However, Mr Ala-Pietil? did not give details on Nokia's handset sales volume in China, or its market share.
Finland-based Nokia had not suffered inventory problems in the mainland, he said. However, several of its rivals, such as American giant Motorola, the mainland's TCL Mobile Communications, China Putian's Eastern Communications and Ningbo Bird had seen an inventory pile-up, although the situation is now improving as sales pick up.
