AUDIENCE WITH A LITERARY GIANT
*This month's programme for the literature event, 'A date with Bai Xianyong', begins with a lecture by the renowned writer himself at Lingnan University from 5pm to 7pm today. It is aimed at teachers to facilitate classroom teaching on his work.
The public can meet Professor Bai in the Tsim Sha Tsui branch of the Commercial Press at 2pm on Saturday. He will sign his books for readers. An exhibition featuring Professor Bai's writings and novels will take place at the bookshop from tomorrow until November 23. Or, you may go to the Cultural Centre on November 10. Award-winning choreographer/dancer Mui Cheuk-yin and artistic director Ho Ying-fung will put across their feelings towards Professor Bai's pieces through dance, visuals and music. Tickets are available at the information counters of the City Hall and Cultural Centre.
Professor Bai was one of the founders of Modern Literature Magazine. His work includes the novel The Sin and more than 30 short pieces. The short story We live In Taipei has been translated into English and Korean.
Having taught Chinese language and literature at the University of California, Santa Barbara, Professor Bai will help edit the writings of students and teachers who have joined the university's creative writing workshop.
