A few years ago, Taiwanese singer-actress Vivian Hsu was best known for her good looks. But over the last couple of years, she has managed to prove there is more to her than just a pretty face. Her latest Mandarin album, I Love You x 4, is another strong indication of real talent. The 29-year-old penned the lyrics for 11 tracks. While most of them are love songs, in Mask, written by her best friend, she manages to take a swipe at the mass media. The track is also her first foray into rapping. The album is a mixture of cutie pop, cutie punk and cutie rock. Most songs are catchy and have good melodies. Hsu first joined the showbiz world at the young age of 16 when she won an entertainment contest in Taiwan, but her career actually took off in Japan. Maybe because of her Japanese influence - Hsu also formed music group Black Biscuit with two Japanese comedians in 1997 - you'll notice the J-pop sound in her music and singing.
