The wife of Merrill Lynch executive Robert Kissel, whose body was found wrapped in a carpet at the luxury Parkview complex on Thursday night, was charged with murder last night. Police said that because Nancy Kissel, 39, was being detained in the custodial ward at Queen Elizabeth Hospital for medical treatment, the case would be heard in her absence in Western Court tomorrow. She was arrested in the luxury flat at the housing estate in Tai Tam Road after the body of the American banker, 40, was found wrapped in plastic sheets and rolled in a carpet in a storeroom in the basement of Block 15 at 11.45pm on Thursday. On Thursday morning, she went to Western police station alleging she had been assaulted by her husband on Sunday afternoon. She was then taken to Queen Mary Hospital for a medical examination but disappeared soon afterwards. One of Kissel's colleagues contacted police later that afternoon to report he had not been seen since Sunday. The body was discovered after officers visited the couple's flat and questioned his wife on Thursday night. Results of a postmortem examination showed that he died from severe head injuries. Kissel was Asia-Pacific managing director of global principal products at Merrill Lynch, which he joined in 2000.
