Many of the people Grace Chan Leung Yuet-ming works for cannot even see her, but that has not made her impact on their lives any less striking.
Mrs Chan, 57, has been helping visually impaired people in Hong Kong and abroad for 30 years. She has given them better ways of navigating MTR stations and busy streets, helped them read and even taught them to cook safely.
Mrs Chan is the head of the Hong Kong Society for the Blind and is one of the city's most prominent campaigners for the visually impaired.
'I got involved with the society by chance,' she said. 'I had never actually thought of working for the blind before - I just wanted to help people in need in Hong Kong.
'I used to work with a real estate company, but I just didn't like it. Then I was told: 'The Blind Society has a secretarial opening, would you like to try?' and I said, 'Okay'. I never thought I would get the job as I had no experience with blind people. I still don't know why they picked me. Maybe I gave a good impression - I was young, and I wore a cheongsam to the interview.'
She soon moved from taking notes at meetings to doing the talking at them, and later to dealing with blind people directly.
'I began to do all the talking at meetings and do translations for and interview blind people,' she says.
