The Repulse Bay unveils new range of apartments to meet demand

The complex offers the discerning one of Hong Kong's most opulent addresses

When you arrive at The Repulse Bay, take a deep breath and smell the freshness of the air, the aroma of the sea.

Built on the site of Hong Kong's famous Repulse Bay Hotel, this magnificent complex is surrounded by greenery and just metres from the sands and serenity of the sweeping bay.

The Repulse Bay offers luxurious unfurnished and serviced apartments for short and long-term lease, especially sought after by people seeking the ultimate in prestige and security.

The project comprises 421 tastefully appointed units, including a choice of luxurious suites and duplexes, complete with every modern convenience.

All rooms command embracing views of Repulse Bay and the South China Sea from private balconies.

An added attraction is the 60,000 square feet clubhouse, with its restaurant and bar.

Martyn Sawyer, general manager of The Repulse Bay, is optimistic about the leasing market for both luxury residential and serviced apartments.

'The market is becoming fairly stable,' he says. 'It has certainly reached the bottom already.

'Our serviced apartments have showed a steady increase in price despite the slowing economy. It was about 5 per cent up from last year's figure.

'On the unfurnished residential side, we are expecting a couple per cent more increase in price.'

To better prepare for the foreseeable market demand and keep up with the competition, the complex is unveiling a range of refurbished apartments to enhance its grace and charm.

'The De Ricou serviced apartments at 109 Repulse Bay Road offer 68 refurbished duplex suites featuring elegant furniture and interior settings which are in high demand since launching,' Mr Sawyer says.

The serviced apartments range in size from 2,020 to 2,243 sqft. For example, the monthly rental for a 2,105 sqft unit of two bedrooms plus a study on the 28th floor costs $79,000 inclusive.

A slightly smaller 2,020 sqft two-bedroom unit on a lower floor costs $62,000.

Bright, airy and with a stylish art deco lobby, De Ricou is perfect for small families, business couples and executives. The entry floor contains a spacious living room, dining room and kitchen, while the upper level houses two bedrooms. The main bedroom has an en suite bathroom. In some suites the study can serve as a guest room when friends or relatives visit.

The Repulse Bay also has available luxurious unfurnished apartments with a sea view for long-term lease.

The Repulse Bay residential community is an oasis of tranquility and nostalgia, with extensive sporting and recreational facilities catering for the lifestyles of families, couples and singles alike.

With 353 unfurnished exclusive luxury apartments ranging from 977 to 5,868 sqft, The Repulse Bay puts a new perspective on modern living and remains a haven for those who like to keep the city at arm's length.

As part of the development, Repulse Bay Apartments at 101 Repulse Bay Road features 212 units with sizes ranging from 977 to 2,465 sqft.

'Families, most of them coming from the United States and Europe, are our key target,' Mr Sawyer says 'To cater to these families' demand for four-bedroom flats, last year, we started to convert some of our three bedrooms into four-bedroom units, priced at $66,000 a month exclusive of management and government fees.

'Seeing a big demand there, we will alter more units phase by phase.'

The Repulse Bay at 109 Repulse Bay Road consists of four towers in what is one of the world's most recognised apartment buildings. Inside and out, these apartments symbolise a quality of life that is a refreshing antidote to the pressure and pace of life in Hong Kong today.

As big is definitely beautiful in the case of living space, the group has added half a dozen luxury modern apartments to one of its residential blocks.

According to Mr Sawyer, these new apartments boast sizeable bathrooms and spacious kitchens fitted with double ovens, big freezers and wine cabinets.

'Answering to the market demand for apartments with deluxe bathroom and kitchen facilities, we will certainly do more such apartments next year,' he says.

'A newly refurbished 2,600 sqft unit is on special offer at $78,000 exclusive per month.'

The Repulse Bay is scheduled to review the price early next year, he says.
