Q Should a professional crocodile hunter be called in?
I hope that when the government finally decides to ask Australian crocodile expert John Lever for his help, he will have the sense to say he is far too busy. Don't walk into this minefield, Mr Lever!
If you do come to sort out Hong Kong's problems, you will no doubt learn the same bitter lesson that many overseas experts have discovered upon their arrival here: that your expertise will be ignored and challenged, and you will be made to bear all responsibility if things do not go according to plan.
Just ask the many expert engineers, educators, AmCham members, business consultants - all initially invited here - who have tried to help Hong Kong out of various muddles. Name and address supplied
The government should have called crocodile expert Steve Irwin on the day of the first sighting. Irwin is not only a world-renowned crocodile hunter, he has one of the most-watched shows in the world. It would do more for Hong Kong tourism to see Steve wandering around our lovely country parks and waterways than a dozen Harbour Fests. And if all goes to plan, the croc would be caught.
