We want Moore! We want Moore! We've got more from 19-year-old singer-actress Mandy Moore's new album, Coverage.
Moore's latest release is an album of cover songs, and her voice succeeds in bringing life to tunes we'd all forgotten about. It seems as if she has put herself in the writer's shoes to take a fresh look at these classics, rather then imitating or copying their original sound.
Whatever song Moore chooses, whether it be from the 1940s or 1980s, she manages to make it sound like modern pop. She gives both Carole King's soul classic I Feel The Earth Move and Senses Working Overtime by XTC a fashionable feel with turntable scratching and strong rhythms.
The album covers all musical genres. Todd Rundgren's folk hit Can We Still Be Friends falls under the category of soft rock, while a cover of Have A Little Faith In Me, originally by John Hiatt, is a very subtle and slow song.
With a dozen new songs and a great new album, Mandy Moore has a hit on her hands.
