It could be the wedding of the year, but if it is, it certainly has been a well-kept secret. Phase one of the wedding of Hong Kong's coolest couple, Josie Ho Chiu-yee and Conroy Chan Chi-chung, was held in Melbourne, Conroy's hometown, which is conveniently out of reach of the salivating local paparazzi.
All expenses were paid by Josie's father, tycoon Stanley Ho Hung-sun, and the bill - according to Express Weekly, so be warned - totalled $11 million, including flights, room and board for everybody. Guests included Eason Chan Yick-shun, Metro Radio boss Kam Kwok-leung and Tai Tai actor Jimmy Wong Ka-lok.
The couple wanted their moment to be private and so married only in the company of friends and family, but the paparazzi has gone to great lengths to publish photos without their permission. 'We have kept all the pictures to ourselves, the pictures that you see are ones that people have snuck out. We did not want to release any pictures of the wedding,' Conroy said.
The banquet reception for 300 of Dr Ho's friends will be held tonight at the Hong Kong Country Club. The big bash for friends will be next week at the Grand Hyatt.
