Wireless association's overly open website a tad overwhelming
Government-backed Wi-Fi group, the Hong Kong Wireless Technology Industry Association (WTIA), seems to have taken Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa's spirit of open government to heart - their website is wide open.
A case of bad design, or bad plumbing? Seems to be a bit of both, because most of the software on the server is outdated and running on factory default settings.
We contacted WTIA executive director Michael Kan last week, and he assured us the group had fixed the problem. But as of yesterday, things looked no different.
Ironically, the WTIA is due to hold a seminar titled 'Wireless LAN security: facts, problems and solutions' next week. Good to see our subsidised industry captains leading by example.
