If you cannot afford the car, you could at least afford its notebook. The Ferrari 3000 is not a new model of what is regarded by most as the king of cars. It is an Acer laptop in Ferrari red with matching badge to boot. Acer is the official supplier of personal computers, notebooks and servers for the Ferrari F1 racing team this year.
Curiously, Acer has picked an AMD chip for the Ferrari 3000, which is supposed to have the same sort of powerhouse performance as the race car.
Based on an AMD Athlon XP 2500+ energy-saving processor, it is supported by a speedy graphics engine, an ATI Radeon 9200 with 128-megabyte video memory. It comes with 512 megabytes of DDR RAM and 60 gigabytes of hard-disk storage.
The racing-car red laptop also features built-in wireless LAN 802.11b and g connectivity as well as Bluetooth.
A 4-1 memory-card drive comes integrated. It has four USB 2.0 ports, an S-Video output as well as a FireWire port. It has a 15-inch display and weighs almost 3kg, which puts it on the heavy side.
