A junior business reporter recently sent through some copy with the name of Hong Kong Monetary Authority deputy chief executive William Ryback misspelled throughout - as 'Rybank'.

Business desk editors were not amused, but the reporter's excuse could not have been better: 'But that's the way it was spelled in the HKMA press release,' he protested.

Glad we're not the only ones who occasionally make such mistakes.

Speaking of mistakes, Lai See yesterday erred in reporting that the fat tiu cheung soup served by Hang Seng Bank at its year-end round of banquets includes shark fin. Though traditionally part of the dish, shark fin is banned from Hang Seng's soup given the environmental concerns surrounding the controversial ingredient. Our apologies to Hang Seng - and admiration for its environmental consciousness.
