SERGEANT Yeung Chi-fai, 32, was in a critical condition in Queen Elizabeth Hospital last night after surgeons removed a bullet from his brain.
Kowloon West Regional Commander, Assistant Commissioner Toby Emmet, said Sergeant Yeung was a veteran officer with 10 years on the force, two with the Emergency Unit. He is married with a 15-month-old daughter.
Police Constable Ma Chak-piu, 27, who was shot in the left ankle, was in a satisfactory condition in the same hospital.
The chief executive of Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Dr York Chow Yat-ngok, said the hospital had mobilised five consultant doctors, 30 nurses and about 20 doctors.
Sergeant Yeung arrived at about 10.36 am. The other nine arrived within the next 40 minutes.
