THE four award winning students of The Friends' Summer Art School found the eight-day art course an eye-opening experience which gave them new inspirations.
Ng Kam-yuen, Sze Wing-yee, Au-yeung Wah and Tse Yuen-lam, together with 46 other teenagers, spent an artistic holiday with the territory's first summer full-time art school for teenagers organised by The Friends of the Hong Kong Museum of Art.
The art course covered eight aspects including the history of Western, Chinese and Hong Kong art; ceramics; painting in Western and Chinese media; drawing and sketching; print-making and sculpturing.
Kam-yuen, a visual communications student, said apart from learning the basic concepts in visual arts, the course enabled him to interact with local artists.
''They see art from a totally different angle. I am impressed by my sculpture instructor Mr Lai Yat-fong's saying that 'reason is confined, emotion is infinite'. I've learned to appreciate art,'' the 19-year-old said.
He also found the process of creating a sculpture fascinating.
