At first glance of this picture (right), it looks like these members of Hong Kong University's Class of 2003 were lucky enough to get their picture taken with their beloved vice-chancellor, Tsui Lap-chee, in academic regalia (fourth from right). But upon closer inspection, you may notice that the VC looks a bit thin and two-dimensional. And isn't that Mr Tsui again, three to the left? That's because the first version isn't really him. It's a life-like, life-size version of him which the grad class took it upon themselves to have made up so no graduate would miss the chance to have their graduation photo taken with him. The vice-chancellor himself launched the cut-out this week on the university's Sun Yat-sen steps. The cut-out will be removed by mid-December. Who says that Hong Kong's students lack ingenuity?
