Defending champion Fredrik Jacobson from Sweden, Spain's Jose Maria Olazabal and Englishman Simon Dyson - all past winners of the Omega Hong Kong Open - have confirmed they will participate in the US$700,000 event which starts on Thursday.

The star trio will take on other top players like Irishman Padraig Harrington, Northern Ireland's Darren Clarke, South Korean KJChoi, England's Nick Faldo and Michael Campbell from New Zealand at the Hong Kong Golf Club.

The Open is jointly sanctioned by the Asian PGA and the European Tour for the third consecutive year.

Last year's win was a turning point for Jacobson, who had previously finished second six times on the European Tour.

Olazabal won the Hong Kong Open in 2001 when he birdied the final three holes. That victory was his last on the European Tour, so he will be hungry for success again. Dyson is also winless since clinching the Omega title three years ago.
