Thursday night's performance of Starsailor at the Convention and Exhibition Centre will give Hong Kong rock fans the opportunity to do something they were denied at Harbour Fest: the chance to stand up and dance. The band, which has been thrust into the limelight from a normal existence working in off-licences, funeral homes and call centres in Lancashire in Britain, seem to have much in common with their opening act, Hong Kong indie band Whence He Came (above). The culturally diverse band was formed in 1999 and has since toured much of Asia with the support of a small label. The local act was last seen at the Rockit Festival, where it grabbed the attention of EMI, highlighting the fact that Hong Kong does have musical talent. The band is set to tour the US, Britain, Norway and Denmark, with a string of festivals and support slots lined up.
