The mobile phone manufacturer has named its Hong Kong-based Asia-Pacific president, Jouni Hartikainen, as chief executive and executive vice-president.
Mr Hartikainen, 42, is due to take over the helm of the Finnish contract manufacturer next May, when president and chief executive Lasse Kurkilahti leaves to take up the position of president and chief executive of the Finnish chemicals group Kemira.
Mr Hartikainen has been with Elcoteq since 2000, when he joined to head global sales and customer service.
He was made head of its communications network equipment business in 2001 and head of Asian operations last year.
He previously worked at Tecnomen Oy, a network equipment manufacturer in Finland. He has also worked in Canada and Malaysia.
Elcoteq also appointed Jukka Jaamaa to the new position of executive vice-president. Mr Jaamaa, who is based in Germany, is currently president, communications network equipment /industrial electronics, Europe.
