Public frenzy halts croc hunt
Mainland crocodile experts searching for the elusive Yuen Long crocodile were forced to temporarily abort their hunt yesterday after onlookers entered the Shan Pui river in rented boats. But He Zhanzhao and fellow croc hunters resumed the operation in the afternoon after sightings of the reptile. They set two nets in the river in an attempt to limit the crocodile's movements, but eventually called it a day after sunset. The hunt is expected to resume today.
Light rail delays incense commuters
Commuters in Tin Shui Wai using the Light Rail during rush hour became frustrated when there were not enough services. It was the first day of operations since services were extended to the area. Armed robbers steal $60,000 from restaurant
Four robbers - one armed with what appeared to be a pistol - escaped with $60,000 from a Tuen Mun restaurant after tying up a caretaker. The men prised open the door of the Ma Tin Road restaurant and tied up the watchman at knifepoint at 1.30am. They broke into two safes and stole the money.
