Ah, the weather - not just the most unoriginal topic of polite conversation when stuck in the lift with the boss, but also the weakest excuse for inertia known to man and womankind. You spent all summer moaning about the heat and humidity; now there's every chance you're freezing. Wise up, rug up and get outdoors for some satisfying events.

The Hong Kong Cultural Centre (HKCC) Arts and Crafts Fair and Tom Lee Music Carnival are on again on Sunday, which will help fill the Christmas stockings, and provide some great local sounds. Hong Kong's beat queen Kumi Masunaga (below) will lead one of her inspirational drum circles, in which everyone is expected to beat it from 2pm-3.30pm at HKCC Piazza A. Piazza B will be ruled by emerging young bands such as 218, Quarter, Nepenthe, Unknown, Atonal and Dark Dream, among others, from 2pm-6pm. The foyer stage will offer more family-orientated tinklers, including a handbell performance by the intriguingly named Double Mallet Ringers and the Belleplate of Christian Alliance. Catch them from 3pm-3.15pm. There stage will also be the site of a digital piano performance from 4.30pm-5.30pm. The event is free and is sure to attract a healthy crowd.
