Researchers who study the private economy plan to turn an annual conference into a major national get-together for private entrepreneurs. The chairman of the Research Association on the Private Economy, Bao Yujun, said the association planned to expand the Taizhou Forum into a national conference similar to the Boao Forum for Asia held on Hainan Island every year. The Boao Forum - started under the auspices of former president Jiang Zemin - was an attempt by the central government to organise an Asian version of the World Economic Forum. It brings together prominent Asian leaders, politicians, businessmen and academics to Boao to discuss politics and the state of the economy. 'Our conference of the research of private economy also needs a permanent home,' Mr Bao said.
