It was a bittersweet arrival for our city's beloved cinematographer Chris Doyle. Here for one night, a rare release from his quarantine in Shanghai making Wong Kar-wai's 2046, he has been absent from the city and his creation, the Dirty Old Man's Club, for three months. 'Shanghai is ok, but I love this city. Everyone there knows me now - even the Shanghai prostitutes. I honestly have no idea why,' says Doyle (right, with pal DJ Kulu). Quite upbeat for a man who has been dealing with a double dose of tragedy, with the passing of two of his closest colleagues and friends on the same day. Too bad the Dirty Old Man's Club doesn't sell champagne, because this was certainly an occasion for it.
